The Office of Sport is the lead NSW Government agency for sport and active recreation.

With a vision of sport and active recreation creating healthier people, connecting communities and making a stronger NSW, we provide the people of NSW with the leadership, policies, programs, funding and infrastructure necessary to maximise the social, health and economic benefits realised through this valued sector.

Our work is spread across NSW, with nine Sport and Recreation Centres, four Olympic Sport Venues and offices throughout the state.

Primary purpose of the role

The role of Programs and Projects Support Officer provides administrative and customer service support for:
Continuous improvement of centre based and regional Programs and Services and;
Projects arising in the activation of Regional Sport and Active Recreation Plans 2018 - 2023

Key accountabilities

Provide administrative and customer service support on key programs and projects across the agency, including completion of allocated tasks, to meet key deliverables in a timely manner;
Promptly respond to enquiries and requests for information, escalating enquiries, as necessary to ensure the provision of accurate information to internal and external stakeholders;
Collect and compile information to support the development of documentation, briefs and reports;
Organise venue, hospitality and travel arrangements for groups participating in programs, services and/or projects;
Unless otherwise required, refer enquiries related to programs and/or services delivered by Office of Sport including but not limited to, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Combat Sports, Funding and Grants to their appropriate departments and, Sport and Recreation program booking and customer enquiries to Central Reservations;
Assist other Office of Sport business units and team members, by providing administrative support during peak demand periods;
Update programs and/or projects records on relevant databases, including updating digital records in compliance with Office of Sport records management requirements, ensuring information is recorded and stored accurately, correctly and confidentially.

Key challenges

Maintain current information about programs, services and/or projects and events delivered within the relevant region;
Establish relationships with programs, services and/or projects and events team members, stakeholders and customers, promoting the Office of Sport’s contribution to the region and encouraging greater uptake and participation in Centre and Regional Office events;
Ensure clear and accurate communication between centre-based and regional office staff.

Role dimensions

Decision making

The Programs and Projects Support Officer, (PPSO) makes decisions on prioritising their workload within given timeframes, informed by the directions of the Regional Director and Centre Manager/Manager Delivery Outreach/Regional Manager.

Decisions outside of the Programs and Projects Support Officer accountabilities, or concerning sensitive/ contentious issues should be escalated to the manager supervising the relevant program, service or project and the relevant Regional Director kept informed.

Reporting line

Reporting lines may differ from Region to Region. The Regional Director will determine the role that the Program and Projects Support Officer reports to, these roles include: Centre Manager/Manager Delivery and Outreach/Regional Manager/Regional Director
